Our Story

Once upon a time in the busy city of Makurdi – Benue State, Nigeria, a young Kwaghdoo lived with her bottled up dreams and adventures in the midst of family and friends.

On her 18th birthday that will eventually define her future, she received a birthday cake from her sister. It looked very beautiful and was brought all the way from Abuja, the nation’s capital!

Kwaghdoo, known as Kay by her friends was full of excitement. Folks gathered round her, sang birthday songs and she cut her cake.

But sadly, it was horrible on the inside, tasteless, poorly done and going bad.

In her disappointment, Kay resolved to ensure no one goes through such an anticlimax on their special day and Kay’s Pastries was born.

At Kay’s Pastries we don’t have “off the shelf” cakes.

Our cakes are only baked on order to ensure each customer gets not only a personalised designed cake but also experiences the delight of being treated to a freshly baked cake with every single purchase.

Kay’s Pastries started operations in 2004 as a small home-based bakery business, with the primary aim of providing celebratory cakes for family and friends, but due to demand and growth, was formally registered in 2009 as a Limited Liability Company.
